Why I love what I do

I begin every new design journey and client relationship with a commitment to listening and observing very carefully. The more I know, the easier it is for me to achieve my goal of capturing a client’s distinct personal brand which is comprised of so many things ranging from aesthetic preferences and desired use of space to family composition and entertaining aspirations. From there I set out to do what I love – create one-of-kind beautiful, functional and joyful interiors. How it all began

As a child growing up in Europe, I was surrounded by extraordinary architecture and interiors that spanned centuries. My passion grew while attending the Interior Design School at Syracuse University and then fueled a rewarding 13-year career with a NY-based commercial interior design firm. The hands-on experience of designing the corporate offices of Sony and JP Morgan Bank, as well as hospitality conference centers, college student unions and clubs continues to influence me today.

Balancing my loves

While raising my three daughters, I shifted professional gears and joined Piping Rock Associates, a boutique real estate firm in Locust Valley, NY. I gained an invaluable understanding of the general and luxury markets on the North Shore of Long Island and seamlessly applied my obsession for design and architecture. Homebuyers turned to me to help them visualize potential and creative solutions as they searched for their dream home.

Still a designer at my core, I was thrilled to be approached in 2010 to join the The Creek Club Beach House design team. My original love of interior design was quickly re-ignited and I knew it was time to get back to my roots. Within a year, HKC Spaces was launched and named for my daughters, Hope, Cecilia and Katharine, who are my greatest source of motivation and inspiration.

HKC Spaces combines my expertise in the convergence of interior design, real estate and staging (I became a certified ASP & IAHSP Stager in 2018) into a single source solution for today’s home owners, buyers, and sellers.

How I recharge

When I am not working, you might see me on my morning walks with my dogs …please stop and introduce yourself.  Or you can catch me enjoying some of my favorite things – playing tennis with my girls, skiing in the beautiful outdoors, cooking a great meal with family and friends, or when opportunity arises travel to see new design trends and experience other cultures.
